ARHC’s mission is to promote and support safe, clean, and affordable housing in rural communities.
To accomplish this mission and address the needs of its members, the association offers you:
a strong, united voice on policy positions that affect your business at the state and federal levels

  • up-to-date information on regulatory changes, legislative issues, policy proposals, and funding availability specific to our industry
  • model documents (i.e. Section 515) and industry standards that help you provide the highest level of professionalism and compliance
  • timely and insightful publications, meetings, conferences, seminars, and training programs
  • member discounts at conferences, meetings, and training sessions
  • coursework for Rural Affordable Housing Professional designation
  • certification program focused on low-income housing tax credits, Section 515, and HUD occupancy
  • networking opportunities that allow you to forge relationships with industry leaders, vendors, partners, elected officials, and agency staff
  • able to advertise your properties at, a website designed to help Washington residents find affordable housing and reduce vacancy rates for ARHC members
  • access to low-cost property and casualty insurance through the Insurance Plan for Association Housing

Member Categories

Professional Members – available to developers, owners, managers, builders, housing authorities, syndicators, accountants, attorneys, bankers, consultants, professional service providers, non-profit organizations, and government agencies that are actively involved in the industry. Includes access to all member benefits.
$600 per year plus $3 per unit*  After June 1, $300 per year plus $1.50 per unit
NOTE: Members in good standing of the national Council for Affordable & Rural Housing (CARH) may deduct that membership cost from the $600 fee when joining ARHC. Please provide proof of CARH membership with application.


Chapter Members – available to small project owners and managers who wish to participate at the Chapter level only. This category is only available to those organizations that own/manage 75 units or less of affordable housing.

$125 per year plus $3 per unit*   After June 1, $62.50 per year plus $1.50 per unit
*Per unit dues are an allowable property operating expense per a national Administrative Notice with HUD.

All membership applications are subject to the approval of our Board of Directors.

Associate Members – Associate members are individuals whose businesses provide goods and services to owners and managers of affordable housing and/or are affiliated with nonprofit organizations which have an interest in the industry.  Includes discounted fees for participation at the Annual Meeting and Conference.
$260 per year – also includes joint membership in the Affordable Housing Management Association of Washington
